EN 1078:2012+A1:2012 – Norm für Helme für Radfahrer und Benutzer von Skateboards
und Inline-Skates.
The chin bar Meets ASTM F1952-10 Standard Specification: Helmets Used for Downhill
Mountain Bicycle Racing
(Abb. A).

ment for the following activities (fig. A).
It is not suitable for the following activities (fig. B).
The helmet is not approved for use in other types of sports / activities.

which can lead to serious injury or even death.
2. Optimum fit
Do not pull the helmet over your forehead, reducing visibility (fig. B).
Do not push the helmet towards the back of your head, as this will not protect your
forehead (fig. C).

3. Adjustement of the head ring
Almost all ABUS helmets are available in 2 sizes.
Adjusting the helmet to the individual head size
can be achieved, depending on the type, with the
following easy to use fitting systems.
4. Adjustment of the straps
1. proper tightening of the chin strap is extremely important. If the chin strap is loose, the
helmet may break off in an impact, leaving your head completely unprotected. Do not use
a helmet that can be rolled off your head when the chin strap is closed, as it may come
off in an accident, resulting in death or serious injury. Do not use a chin strap or wear the
strap at the chin end. If the chin strap is not in the correct position [far under the chin
near the neck] or is not used properly, the helmet may come off in an accident, resulting in
death or serious injury.
2. to securely fasten the D-ring restraint system, thread the end of the chin strap through
the D-rings only, as shown in the illustration (Fig. A), and pull the loop back (Fig. B) by
pulling it firmly against your neck.
3. attach the snap on the end of the chin strap on the side of the D-rings as shown in (Fig.
C) to secure the loose end of the chin strap with the red snap after you have completed the
first step.
CHECK OCCASIONALLY DURING USE TO MAKE SURE THE STRAP DOES NOT COME LOOSE WHILE RIDING.
VISION AND EYE PROTECTION
Always check that you can see adequately, especially your peripheral vision (sideways while
looking forward). For example, if you are wearing a helmet in conjunction with goggles or
other eye protection, you may experience vision limitations. It is the responsibility of each
user to make sure that he or she can see adequately with the helmet on before using it.
Never use a helmet or eye protection that restricts your vision to the point that you cannot
safely ride a bicycle.
Failure to use proper eye protection can cause an accident and result in serious injury or
death.
5. Proper maintenance and care
Before each use, the helmet and its strapping must be checked.
Regularly check the helmet for signs of damage.
Do not alter the specification of this helmet as it will reduce its protective effect.
Do not apply stickers or paint to the helmet as this can be damaging to the materials.
Do not remodel or misuse the helmet.
Any non-observance of the instructions for use, as well as modifications, and improper
use of the helmet may lead to exclusion of liability..
Store helmet in a cool, dry and protected place. To protect the helmet from damage,
transport the helmet in its original packaging or equivalent.
Do not expose the helmet to temperatures in excess of 60˚C (147°F). Do not store behind
glass, e.g. in a car (burning glass effect), near heaters etc.
If you suspect that the helmet has received a large impact, even if there is no visible
damage, please purchase a new helmet.
This helmet has a limited service life and should be replaced when it shows obvious
signs of wear.
Depending on the frequency of use and the specific operational conditions, a bicycle
helmet must be replaced 4 - 5 years after the first time it is used. In view of the unavoi-
dable material fatigue, the helmet must, however, be replaced at most 8 years after its
production date even if it displays no clear visible or technical defects.
The helmet, inner pads and head ring can be cleaned using lukewarm water,
solvent-free detergents and a soft cloth.
Only use original spare parts.
Please contact your local waste disposal company for correct disposal. Dispose of the
packaging according to type. Separate the cardboard, foil and plastic elements for
recycling.
• Please observe the notes enclosed for helmets equipped with Quin.

(fig. A).
