QUAD SKATES USERS' MANUAL
ATTENTION!!! THE MANUAL MUST BE READ CAREFULLY AND UNDERSTOOD BEFORE USING
THE ROLLER SKATES. KEEP THE MANUAL FOR FURTHER REFERENCE.
IT IS SUGGESTED TO USE SAFETY HELMET AND WRIST, ELBOW AND KNEE PROTECTORS.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Using skates, due to constant moving at considerable speed, requires appropriate technique of use, which provides safety for skater
and the persons in their vicinity. Because of the recreational purpose of skates, it is suggested to use standard skating techniques
without any evolutions or jumps. It is highly recommended to use safety pads , helmets and reflective elements. The skater must
always be cautious during skating and adjust the speed to the level of their skills. Appropriate surface is crucial – it must be smooth,
clean and dry. The slope terrain and slippy, dusty, stony, wet ground should be avoided. Before skating using skates ensure that all
bolts are tightened. We recommend using skates in places assigned for that purpose.
USER WEIGHT
Maximum user weight indicated on the packaging
ROLLER SKATES CONSTRUCTION
The skates consist of two elements: the boot and the lower part. The boot can be made of plastic entirely or have its front part made
of soft material. The lower part, called chassis is made of TPR plastic or aluminum. The wheels are mounted to bearings, which are
fixed to the chassis with bolts and self-locking nuts.
EN
WHEELS
The durometer indicates wheels hardness – the higher the number, the harder the wheels. Soft wheels adapt better to the road and
provide better traction. Hard wheels wear slower and provide lower traction and lower skating comfort.
Wheels replacement:
A. Unscrew the wheels axis bolts using appropriate tool.
B. Remove the wheel from the chassis.
C. Remove the bearing from the wheel.
D. Put the bearing with sleeve into the wheel.
E. Install the wheels on the chassis and tighten the axis bolts.
The wheels fixing bolts should not be tightened too strongly. For the safety reasons it is suggested to use the self-locking nuts only
once.
BEARINGS
Nils Extreme offers the following types of bearings:
608z - common bearings for beginners.;
608z z ABEC 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 - good bearings with high durability.
The bigger the number by ABEC, the better the bearing’s precision and the material of which it was made.
Good quality of bearings ensures fluent skating. All bearings were greased and do not require next lubrication. Dusty, greasy and
wet surfaces should be avoided. Wet or damp bearings should be dried with clean cloth. Worn out bearings must be replaced.
Bearings replacement
A. Remove the wheels from the chassis;
B. Remove the bearing from the wheel using appropriate tool;
C. Remove the sleeve and the second bearing;
D. Clean the bearing with dry cloth or replace it with new one;
E. Insert the bearing into the wheel;
F. Inert the sleeve and the second bearing.
BRAKES
If the brakes do not work properly, it can be caused by their wear. The angle between the lower part of the brake and the surface on
which it moves indicates the wear. If it exceeds 40º, the brake must be replaced.
Brakes replacement:
A. Unscrew the axis bolt, which is located by the brake, using appropriate tool;
B. Remove the brake bracket from the chassis;
C. Remove the brake from bracket using a screwdriver;
D. Install new brake;
E. Install new brake bracket on the chassis and fix the axis bolt and the nut;
F. Make sure that the bolt is properly tightened.
Fastening
The three most often used types of roller skates fastening are:
-two-section buckle
-velcro strap
-lacing
-glowing shoelaces
EN
Fastening of a two-section buckle:
A. Unfasten the buckle located on the boot side
B. Tighten the strap until the boot fits the foot
C. In order to loosen the strap, press the other buckle (clamp) at the end of the strap
D. Close the buckle
BASIC SAFETY RULES
We strongly recommended to use a helmet and protective pads for knee, elbow and wrist in order to minimize the effects of the fall,
is also recommended the use of reflective elements to enhance the level of security both for themselves and for the environment.
Skating should take place on the dry surface without holes or stones. Before using skates, check the status of all clamping elements,
in particular the fixing screws castors or a combination of skid shoe. Roller skates should be regularly checked for wear or damage,
because only when they are fully functional they will meet the conditions for safe use. We must also remember that the self-locking
nuts and other fittings of this type can sometimes lose its effectiveness. Do not use a damaged or excessively worn out
equipment. Roller skates Nils Extreme serve only for recreational riding, you should not have to perform complicated figures or
acrobatics. While skating, do not stick to other vehicles in traffic. Do not use the roller skates in the conditions of insufficient visibility.
MAINTENANCE
Maintenance is very important for safe skating and extends the skates’ life. After each use of the skates it is suggested to clean them
and dry carefully. Small stones and other objects found between wheels must be removed, as well as all sharp edges that may appear
after use. Some elements like: brakes, wheels or bearings are subject to wear. These items are not subject to the complaint. Their
condition must be regularly checked and the elements shall be replaced with new if necessary.
WARRANTY LIMITATIONS
Complaint returned to the distributor is to be accepted only with all original components, which are wheels, chassis, brakes, etc.
Warranty does not cover: damages caused by accidents, misuse or improper repair of the product; worn parts; parts not lubricated,
scratched or damaged by corrosion as well as installation of non-original spare parts; faded color of the lining caused by increased
