1.2 Intended use
The battery-operated eTree Pruner is designed to
cut and trim branches, stems, twigs and trees in
gardens, orchards and farms, using a rechargeable
battery for power. Local safety regulations apply.

2.1 Warning notices and symbols in text

2.2 General power tool safety warnings
WARNING:
• Read all safety warnings, instructions,
illustrations and specications provided
with this power tool. Failure to follow all in-
structions listed below may result in electric
shock, re and/or serious injury.
• Save all warnings and instructions for
future reference.
• The term “power tool” in the warnings
refers to your mains-operated (corded)
power tool or battery-operated (cordless)
power tool.
2.2.1 Work area safety
1. Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered
or dark areas invite accidents.
2. Do not operate power tools in explosive at-
mospheres, such as in the presence of flamma-
ble liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create
sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
3. Keep children and bystanders away while
operating a power tool. Distractions can
cause you to lose control.
2.2.2 Electrical safety
Do not expose power tools to rain or wet
conditions. Water entering a power tool will
increase the risk of electric shock.
2.2.3 Personal safety
1. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and
use common sense when operating a power
tool. Do not use a power tool while you are
tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol
or medication. A moment of inattention while
operating power tools may result in serious
personal injury.
2. Use personal protective equipment. Always
wear eye protection. Protective equipment
such as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes,
hard hat or hearing protection used for appro-
priate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
3. Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the
switch is in the off-position before connecting
to power source and/or battery pack, picking up
or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with
your nger on the switch or energising power
tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
4. Remove any adjusting key or wrench
before turning the power tool on. A wrench
or a key left attached to a rotating part of the
power tool may result in personal injury.
5. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing
and balance at all times. This enables better
control of the power tool in unexpected
situations.
6. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing
or jewellery. Keep your hair and clothing away
from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery
or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
7. If devices are provided for the connection
of dust extraction and collection facilities,
ensure these are connected and properly
used. Use of dust collection can reduce
dust-related hazards.
8. Do not let familiarity gained from frequent
use of tools allow you to become complacent
and ignore tool safety principles. A careless
action can cause severe injury within a frac-
tion of a second.
2.2.4 Power tool use and care
1. Do not force the power tool. Use the correct
power tool for your application. The correct
power tool will do the job better and safer at
the rate for which it was designed.
2. Do not use the power tool if the switch does
not turn it on and off. Any power tool that can-
not be controlled with the switch is dangerous
and must be repaired.
3. Disconnect the plug from the power source
and/or remove the battery pack, if detach-
able, from the power tool before making
any adjustments, changing accessories, or
storing power tools. Such preventive safety
measures reduce the risk of starting the
power tool accidentally.
4. Store idle power tools out of the reach of
children and do not allow persons unfamiliar
with the power tool or these instructions to
operate the power tool. Power tools are dan-
gerous in the hands of untrained users.
5. Maintain power tools and accessories.
Check for misalignment or binding of moving
parts, breakage of parts and any other
condition that may affect the power tool’s
operation. If damaged, have the power tool
repaired before use. Many accidents are
caused by poorly maintained power tools.
6. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.
Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp
cutting edges are less likely to bind and are
easier to control.
7. Use the power tool, accessories and tool
bits etc. in accordance with these instructions,
taking into account the working conditions
and the work to be performed. Use of the
power tool for operations different from those
intended could result in a hazardous situation.
8. Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry,
clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery
handles and grasping surfaces do not allow
for safe handling and control of the tool in
unexpected situations.
2.2.5 Battery tool use and care
1. Recharge only with the charger specied by
the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable
for one type of battery pack may create a risk
of re when used with another battery pack.
2. Use power tools only with specically desig-
nated battery packs. Use of any other battery
packs may create a risk of injury and re.
3. When battery pack is not in use, keep it away
from other metal objects, like paper clips,
coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal
objects, that can make a connection from
one terminal to another. Shorting the battery
terminals together may cause burns or a re.
4. Under abusive conditions, liquid may be
ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If
contact accidentally occurs, flush with water.
If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek
medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery
may cause irritation or burns.
5. Do not use a battery pack or tool that is dam-
aged or modied. Damaged or modied bat-
teries may exhibit unpredictable be haviour
resulting in re, explosion or risk of injury.

re or excessive temperature. Exposure to
re or temperature above 130 °C may cause
explosion.
7. Follow all charging instructions and do not
charge the battery pack or tool outside the
temperature range specied in the instruc-
tions. Charging improperly or at temperatures
outside the specied range may damage the
battery and increase the risk of re.
2.2.6 Service
1. Have your power tool serviced by a
qualied repair person using only identical
replacement parts. This will ensure that the
safety of the power tool is maintained.
2. Never service damaged battery packs.
Service of battery packs should only be per-
formed by the manufacturer or authorized
service providers.
2.3 eTree Pruner specic warnings

It can be used especially when storing the
device.
1. The power tool is intended to be used at
ground level. Use of additional support such
as ladders happen solely under user’s respon-
sibility and use of these are not encouraged.
2. Do not use the tool for any task except that
for which it is intended.
3. Do not force the power tool and use the
correct tool for your application. The correct
power tool will do the job better and safer at
the rate for which it was designed.

4. Turn the power Off:
• Whenever the tool is not in use
• Before clearing a blockage
• Before checking, cleaning or servicing the
power tool
• After striking a foreign object, e.g. a metal
wire, to inspect the tool for damage
• If the tool starts to function abnormally.
WARNING:
5. If the blades are jammed, put the power
switch to Off-position to switch off the tool
and make sure not to touch the trigger. Then
remove the foreign matter from the blades.
WARNING:
6. Keep your free hand away from the cutting
area. Do not hold the branch you are pruning
with your free hand. Handle the blades with
extreme care to prevent cuts or injury.
2.4 Battery related warnings
Before using the battery pack, read all
instructions and cautionary markings.
Fiskars Battery is provided with a separate
user manual. Please see this for detailed
information regarding the battery pack.
2.4.3 Disposing and shipping the batteries
Please see section 6 related to disposal and
recycling from the manual.
WARNING:
1. Never incinerate the battery pack as it
can explode in a re.
2. The lithium-ion batteries are classied
as dangerous during transport, so there are
requirements and restrictions affecting the
transport. Please observe the national reg-
ulations related to transporting batteries.
2.5 Additional warnings
1. The garden power tool does not produce
danger related to noise or vibration under
normal usage. However, if the user experi-
ences negative effects, he/she should limit
the daily usage time of the tool.
2. Do not let familiarity gained from frequent
use of tools allow you to become complacent
and ignore tool safety principles.
3. Do not touch the blades before the tool is
turned off under any circumstances.
4. Do not use a damaged cable or charger to
charge the device.
5. Power tools can produce electromagnetic
elds (EMF) that are not harmful to the
user. Users of pacemakers or other similar
medical devices should contact a doctor for
advice before operating the power tool.
6. Check the working area for foreign ob-
jects, such as wire fences before operating
the power tool. Avoid cutting electrical wires
that may be hidden.
7. Do not use the power tool near high-voltage
electrical power lines. It may result in damage
to the power tool and/or electric shock.
8. Touch the trigger only when it is safe to
do so. Keep ngers and all other body parts
away from the blades when using the prod-
uct to prevent serious injuries.
9. When clearing jammed material or ser-
vicing the power tool, make sure the power
switch is off. Before any maintenance opera-
tions, the battery pack needs to be removed.
10. Use of sturdy outdoor shoes which do
not slip is highly recommended when using
power tools as these will reduce the risk of
personal injuries.
11. If the power tool is used by companies, it
is the employer’s responsibility to enforce
the use of appropriate safety protective
equipment by the tool operators and by other
people in the immediate working area.
12. Do not exceed the limitations of the
power tool in its usage. The cutting capacity
is stated in product specications-section at
the beginning of the manual.
13. Keep the charging cables away from cut-
ting area as these can be accidentally cut.
14. Always use head protection when
operating the extended-reach pruning shear
overhead. Falling debris can result in serious
personal injury.
15. Keep hands away from blades. Make
sure the switch is off when clearing jammed
material. A moment of inattention while op-
erating the extended-reach pruning shear
may result in serious personal injury.
16. Always use two hands when operating
the extended-reach pruner shear. Holding
the extended-reach pruning shear with
both hands avoids loss of control.
17. Hold the extended-reach pruning
shear by insulated gripping surfaces only,
because the blades may contact hidden
wiring. Cutting blades contacting a “live”
wire may make exposed metal parts of the
extended-reach pruning shear “live” and
could give the operator an electric shock.
18. To reduce the risk of electrocution, never
use the extended-reach pruning shear near
any electrical power lines. Contact with or use
near power lines may cause serious injury or
electric shock resulting in death.
19. Do not use the extended-reach pruning
shear in bad weather conditions, especially
when there is a risk of lightning. This decreas-
es the risk of being struck by lightning.
2.5.1 Do not modify or attempt to repair the
appliance or the battery pack (as applicable)
except as indicated in the instructions for use
and care.
3. Operating the power tool
3.1 Preparing the power tool for
operation
CAUTION: Always make sure that the power
tool is turned Off from the power switch.
The user needs to understand how power
tool’s main parts and safety mechanisms
work before using the product.
The following steps must be performed
before operating the power tool:
1. Inspect the product carefully to make sure
that no breakage or damage occurred during
shipping. Do not discard the packing.
2. Check and fully charge the battery.
3. Clean the power tool.
4. Check the controls.
If you cannot carry out these tasks: do not
use the power tool and contact Fiskars
consumer service for assistance.
3.2 Using the rechargeable battery
Fiskars Batteries are available for purchase
and include a specied user manual. Please
see this for detailed information regarding
the specications of the battery pack, e.g.
related to temperature limitations.
3.2.1 The battery functions
• The power tool uses a separate, rechargeable
battery which is charged via the USB Type-C port.
• Battery should be charged 100% before the rst
usage.
• LEDs in the battery indicate the state-of-charge of
the battery or possible faults.
• If all the 4 LEDs are blinking simultaneously, this is a
sign of overheating. Wait until the product has cooled
down. If needed, reduce the number of cuts per min-
ute or diameter of branches that are being cut.
• The battery pack’s power check button has a battery
power indicator light which shows the charge level of the
battery. Press the button to check the remaining power.
• The lights which are shown when the battery level
is the following:
10–25% one led light
25–50% two led lights
50–75% three led lights
75–100% four led lights
3.2.2 Using the batteries with the power tool
• The battery pack is very easy to use with the power
tool: the user simply slides the battery pack to the
battery case.
• The user can take off batteries from the power tool
by pulling the strap (8) in the battery: this releases
the battery lock.

3.2.3 Charging the battery pack

The charging is done when USB-C cable connects
the battery to the power source. Please follow the
following steps:
1. Disconnect the battery pack from any external
devices.
2. Insert the type-C cable’s connector at one end
into the two-way type-C port of the battery pack.
3. Connect the other end of the charging cable to
the charger plug (not supplied) and connect the
charger to the power supply for charging.
4. During the charging process, the indicators
will light up one by one according to the charging
situation. When all the battery power indicator
lights stay on, the battery is fully charged. Remove
the battery from the charger and disconnect from
the charging cable.
3.2.4 Maintenance of the battery pack
Please read section 2, warnings from the
user manual. Please also see the separate
user manual for Fiskars Battery for detailed
information.
• Do not attempt to repair the battery pack yourself.
To ensure safety and reliability, all repairs should be
decided and done by a qualied service technician.
Contact either the place of purchase or the Fiskars
consumer service. Keep the battery clean and free
of dust. Don’t clean the battery with water.
• Do not use chemicals such as oil or solvents to
clean or maintain the battery pack as these could
damage the plastic and electronic parts. Wipe the
surface with soft dry cloth.
• Battery’s capacity loss can result if the pack is stored
for long periods of time at very high or low temperatures.

3.3 Operating the power tool
WARNING:
• Always use two hands when operating the
extended-reach pruner shear. Holding the
extended-reach pruning shear with both
hands avoids loss of control.
3.3.1 Using the power switch and the operating
trigger
• The power switch is used for powering the power
tool. The operating trigger is inactive, and all power
is off when the power switch is in a forward position,
i.e. the top side.

• The blades do not move by moving only the power
switch. Using the blades requires the use of both
the power switch and the trigger.
• The operating trigger has two functions. Both
require pressing rst the safety trigger pin:
a. cut-mode. Press the safety trigger (2) backward and
keep it pressed, this releases trigger (1) to use cutting
mode (back side of the trigger). The blades open when
the trigger is released and in case the trigger is pressed
continuously the blades stay closed.
b. grab-mode. Press the safety trigger (2) backward
and keep it pressed, this releases trigger (1) to use
the grab mode to use (front side of the trigger). The
moving blade starts the grab movement where one
can easily move the branches.

3.3.2 Switching the power tool ON/OFF
When the user is ready to test the product, move
the power switch to stage ON.
• There are two safety mechanisms:
1. If the pruner is not being used, the pruner goes
into auto-sleep after 5 minutes when it is at ON
position. User needs to turn the power again from
the power switch by sliding the power switch rst to
OFF and then back to ON to wake up the pruner.
2. If the trigger is released before the cut is com-
plete and the blades close, the blade is stopped and
immediately opened.
3.3.3 Cutting operation
See section 4, for maintenance instructions.
• For cut function, press the trigger and hold until
the cut cycle is nished. For opening the blades, re-
lease the trigger. If the trigger is released before the
cut is completed, the blade returns in open position.
• When operating the power tool, maintain your
proper footing and balance at all times and cut
branches one by one.
• Cutting head operation. The cutting head has a
locking wheel which can be used to lock the cutting
head when one want to grab bigger branches. This
disables the normal movement of the cutting head.
WARNING:
• One needs to switch Off the power and take
one’s nger away from the trigger before
changing the angle of the cutting head.
• The best practice is to change the angle of the
cutting head by placing the cutting head against
a tree trunk or a rm branch and then either push
or pull the cutting head. Thus, one does not
need to touch the cutting head by hand.

Telescope lock
The user can either lengthen or shorten the reach of
the power tool by using the telescope function.
Cutting head
The cutting head can be adjusted to different angles
for easy cutting, the locking wheel can be used to lock
and release the cutting head and it is possible to turn it
to different angles, in a range of approx. 230°C.

4. Maintenance instructions
Please use Fiskars maintenance products
when servicing Fiskars power tools.
4.1 After nishing work
4.1.1 Cleaning and maintaining the product
When cleaning or doing maintenance regard-
ing the blades, always remember to turn the
power Off and then remove the battery.
Do not use solvents such as mineral spirits or kerosene
to clean the pruner, as these might damage the plastic.
The cleaning is recommended to be done in the
following order:
• Switch Off the power tool by using the power switch.
• When cleaning the product, set it on a sturdy, level surface.
• If the power tool is wet, allow it to dry.
• If the battery is moist or wet, allow it to dry.
• Clean the power tool and the blades.
• Put the blade protection over the blades.
• Clean the battery.
4.1.2 Moving and storing the power tool
• When carrying and storing the power tool the power
needs to be Off. See section 3, operating the power
tool, for instructions on how to execute these.
• Carry the power tool with one hand on the control handle.
• When transporting the power tool in a vehicle,
secure it so that it cannot move.
• Remember to charge the device after the usage,
especially before an extended storage period as
this protects the battery.
4.2 Changing the parts:
• The user can only perform the repairs
described in the manual. Other repairs
should be performed by qualied personnel
in authorized service and repair points.
• The user can either authorize a service to change the
parts or do some of the tasks him/herself. The user
can do the following repairs and changes of parts:
4.2.1 Changing the batteries
• The battery pack is easy to remove from the power
tool and reattach to the power tool. The battery
replacement can be done without special tools.

4.2.2 Grinding the blades
WARNING: one needs to remove the battery
before changing the blades.
• The blades are made of durable and high-quality
carbon steel.
• One should perform blade maintenance regularly to
prevent blade friction and ensure a long operating time.
• One should grind the blades when the sharpness
and effectiveness regarding cutting has decreased.
The grinding is recommended to be done by using
Fiskars maintenance kit, which contains a diamond le.
• Make sure that the blade remains free of play when
you maintain the blade.
4.2.3 Changing the blades
WARNING: one needs to remove the batter-
ires before changing the blades.
When one wants to change the cutting blade, the
following steps need to be followed:
1. Remove batteries as described in previous
section (3.2.2).
2. Remove the spring (14) with pliers
3. Remove the blade screw and nut (13) by unscrew-
ing with 10mm socket.
4. Remove the chain lock (17) using narrow pliers
and bend the blade relative to the chain to make it
easier to remove the chain lock
5. Remove the cutting upper blade (11) and change
it with the new one
6. Installation in reverse order, when you tighten the
blade, the blade movement need to be clearance
free, but not too tight. The blades need to move
freely.
NOTE: Ensure blade is clearance free when tighten-
ing blade screws. There should be no gap between
cutting and lower (hook) blades.
