Thank you for choosing our product. Your new
product has been designed with both the effort
and experience, not only of engineers, but also
photographers. We have created it based on the
best available materials, technology and
solutions, making it the perfect tool for both
professionals and hobbyists.
The Irix 15 mm f/2.4 is an ultra wide-angle,
rectilinear manual lens designed for full frame or
smaller sensor cameras.
[1] FRONT LENS CAP
The front lens cap protects the front lens. It should be
in place whenever the lens is not being used.
[2] FRONT FILTER THREAD
The design of the lens allows the use of 95 mm screw-
in filters.
Due to the lens’s wide field of view, slim-type
filters with low-profile frames are recommended.
Thicker filters, as well as compound filter sets,
may cause vignetting. We recommend using
original Irix Specta filters, tailored to the design of
the lens.
Screw the filter on clockwise as viewed from the
front lens. Before fully screwing on the filter, make
sure the lens will not come into contact with the
filter’s glass surface, as that may cause damage to
both components.
[3] LENS HOOD
The lens hood is used to block light sources to
prevent glare and lens flare, which may decrease
contrast and cause light reflections in the image.
To attach the lens hood, place it so that the white
position marker lines are adjacent to one another.
Then turn the hood clockwise, as viewed from the
front lens, until you hear a “click”. To remove the
shade, turn it counterclockwise. During transport,
the lend hood can be attached in the reversed
position.

[4] FILTER WINDOW
The filter window facilitates access to the rotatable
filter, providing a convenient way to rotate the filter
when the lens hood is in basic position.
To open the filter window, slide the cap upwards
while hiding it in the hood, until you hear a “click”.
When the window is not being used, it is
recommended to close it by sliding the cap back
to its original position.
[5] FOCUS SCALE CALIBRATION
The focus calibration hole can be found under a
detachable cover and provides access to the rings
regulating the focus scale position.
Only experienced users and Irix customer
service staff should use this function.
Details regarding the focus scale calibration
procedure can be found in the Extended User
Manual.
[6] FOCUS LOCK RING
The focus lock ring lets you lock the focusing ring in
the chosen position.
To lock the focus ring, rotate the focus lock ring
left until there is noticeable resistance. To unlock
it, rotate the focus lock ring all the way to the
right.
Attempting to forcibly rotate the focus ring when
locked by the focus lock ring may result in
permanent damage to the lens.
[7] FOCUS RING
The lens is not equipped with a autofocus system.
To focus on a given object, observe the image in
the viewfinder or on the camera screen and adjust
it manually by rotating the focus ring. You can also
use the distance scale (in feet or meters) on the
lens body to estimate the distance to the chosen
object for the photograph.
When the ring is set in the “infinity” position, there

is a noticeable “click”, making it easier to find the
value without looking.
Details regarding the hyperfocal and focus depth
scales can be found in the Extended User Manual.
[8] GELATIN FILTER SLOT
The design of the lens allows the use of gelatin filters,
which are inserted into the slot in the back of the
lens.
Advice on cutting out filters can be found in the
Extended User Manual.
Exercise caution when inserting the filter and do
not touch the lens or the electrical contacts
around the bayonet. Do not use filters with
different dimensions than those described in the
Extended User Manual.
[9] BAYONET MOUNT
Mounting the lens to the camera is described in the
camera’s user manual and is different for various
systems.
The marker (dot) on the lens body facilitates
mounting the lens onto the camera.
[10] REAR LENS CAP
The rear lens cap protects the lens during transport
and should be in place whenever the lens is not
attached to the camera.
IRIS APERTURE ADJUSTMENT
The iris of the lens is operated electronically
through the camera. Detailed information
regarding aperture operation can be found in the
camera’s user manual and can differ for various
systems.
LENS POUCH AND HARDCASE
In order to protect the lens against dust and
scratching, it is recommended to store it in a
pouch or hardcase. However, remember that a
pouch and hardcase do not provide protection
from water, falling, or shock.
MAINTENANCE
The lenses have antireflective coating and are dirt-
resistant, but they are not scratch-proof.
Use only cleaning agents intended for optics.
Larger impurities should be removed first with
compressed air or a clean soft brush.
WARNINGS
The lens is equipped with a seal to protect the
interior from dust and moisture. It is not,
however, completely waterproof. Do not
submerge it in water or store it for extended
periods of time in humid places. To achieve
better water-tightness, use of the front
protective filter is recommended.
Protect the lens from shock, falling, and
excessive vibrations.
Do not leave the lens in direct sunlight, as
