Failuretoobserve the operating instructions when using the product constitutes
incorrect use or wilful misuse and is not permitted.
Note
This device is anew,unused product.
Any cutting residue present may have been left over from quality assurance tests during
production.
1.2 Explanation of warning symbols and notes

This symbol indicates arisk of electric shock from touching uninsulated product parts
that may carry hazardous voltage.

2. Safety
2.1 Correct use
This product is intended for the destruction of documents both in the homeand in the
commercial sector,provided the applications arecomparable with typical household use
(e.g. in oces, workshops and hotels, etc.).
Use the product only for the intended purpose.
The product is intended only for use inside buildings.
Protect the product from dirt, moistureand overheating and use it in dry rooms only.
Do not use the product in the immediate vicinity of heaters, other heat sources or in
direct sunlight.
Do not use the product in adamp environment and avoid splashingwater.
Do not operate the product outside the power limits given in the specications.
Do not operate the product continuously, as it is not designed for this.
Do not use the product in areas in which electronic products arenot permitted.
Do not drop theproduct and do not expose it to any major shocks.
This product is not intended for use by persons,including children, withlimited physical,
sensory or mental abilities or lacking in experience or knowledge, unless they are
supervised by apersonresponsible for their safety orhave been instructed on how to
use the product.
As with allelectrical products, this device should be kept out of the reach of children.
Keep the packaging material out of the reach of children due to the risk of suffocation.
Dispose of packaging material immediately in accordance with the locally applicable
regulations.
Do not modify the product in any way.Doing so voids the warranty.
Only use the article under moderate climatic conditions.
Always pulldirectly on the plug when disconnecting the cable, never on the cable itself.

2.2 Basic safety instructions
Please note the following safety instructions in order to use the device safely:
•Check the device beforeuse for any visible external damage. Do not putadamaged
device into operation.
•People who, as aresult oftheir physical, mental or motorcapacities, areunable to
operate the device safely must only use the device under supervisionorafter instruction
by aresponsible person.
•Faulty components must onlybereplaced with original spareparts. Only these parts are
guaranteed to meet the required safety standards.
•Protect the device against moistureand the penetrationofliquids or objects. In the event of
contact with liquid, disconnect the device from the power supply immediately.
Warning -risk of cuttingonthe cutting rollers
Do not touch the cutting rollers.
Risk of electricshock
Do not open the device or continue to operate it if it becomesdamaged.
Do not use the product if the AC adapter,adapter cable or power cable is damaged.
Do not attempt to service or repair the product yourself.Leaveany and allservice
work to qualied experts.

2.3 Explanation of symbols used on the product label
Warning -risk of injury
Note the warning symbolsinorder to avoidinjuries or damage to the device.
General warning symbol
Beforecommissioning, read the enclosed operating
instructions.
Youmust comply with the safety instructionsatall times.
This device is not intended for use by children.
Avoid touching the intake openingwithhands, clothing
or hair.
Unplug the device if it is not going to be used for a
prolonged period.
Children must be supervised when using the device.
Do not insert paper clips into the intakeshaft.
Do not reach into the intake shaft.
Keep clothing away from the intake shaft.
Keep jewellery,e.g. necklaces, away from the intakeshaft.
Keep hair away from the intake shaft.
Do not use any aerosol products on or near the device.
Insert no morethan 10 sheets of paper at any one time into
the intake shaft (see 7. TechnicalData).
Do notinsert CDs/DVDs into the intakeshaft.
Intake shaft for credit cards. Only insert one credit cardata
time into the intake shaft for credit cards.

2.4 Safety device
The device is equipped with asafety switch and canonly be operated if the basket (5) is
correctly inserted into the device.
Warning
Any tampering with or modication of the safety featurescan result in seriousinjury
and is not permitted.
3. Installation /Setup
Warning
Only operate the product from asocket that has been approved forthe device. The
socket must be installed close to the product and must be easily accessible.
Disconnect the product from the power supply using the On/Off switch –ifthis is not
available, unplug the power cord from the socket.
If using amulti-socket power strip, make surethat the total power consumption of
allconnected devices does notexceed the socket strip's maximum throughput rating.
If you willnot be using the product for aprolonged period, disconnect it from
mains power.
Note
Set the product up on alevel, horizontal and sucientlystablesurface.
Routeall cablessothereisnoriskoftripping.
Do not bend or crush the cable.
Protect theconnecting cable from hot surfaces and sharp edges.
Connect the power pack to aproperly installed and easily accessible mains socket.
4. Operation
Note
Be awarethat the thickness of paper increases when it is folded, leading to the
device's maximum page capacity being exceeded.
Always wait until one cutting operationisnished beforestarting the next one.
Do not use the devicecontinuously formorethan 15 minutes at atime.
Empty the container regularly in order avoid damaging the device.
4.1 Switching the device on
Press the button (9) to switch the device on.
The status LED “Ready” on the button (9) lights up solid blue.
The device is now ready for use.
4.2 Switching the device off
Press the button (9) to switch the device off.
The status LED “Ready” on the button (9) goes out.
Note
If too much paper is fed in at the same time, the shredder stops automatically and ejects
the paper backwards. The status LED “Overload”onthe button(9) starts to ash
red. This may have been caused by too much paper being stapled, paper that is too
thick, folded or not stacked neatly.Remove the excess paper and reduce the number of
sheets if necessary.
4.3 Shredding paper
Insert the paper into the centreofthe intake shaft (1). The cutting rollers switch on
automatically.
Let go of the paper.Once the cutting process is complete, the device switches itself
off again.
4.4 Shredding plastic cards
Insert the plastic cardinto the centreofthe intake shaft (1). The cutting rollers switch
on automatically.
Let go of the plastic card. Once the cutting process is complete, the device switches
itself off again.
4.5 Forwards /backwards modes
Note
Thesemodes aredesigned to release any blockages of the cutting mechanism.
If apaper jam is detected in the intake shaft, the shredder stops automatically and ejects
the paper backwards (1). The status LED “Overload”onthe ”button (9) starts to ash
red. If the paper then does notcome loose, carry out the following steps.
Press and hold the “REV” button (8). The rollers of the cutting unit now rotate in the
opposite direction and discharge the paper backwards.
Remove the blocked cut material carefully fromthe intake shaft (1).
The status LED “Ready” on the button (9) lights up solid blue.
Ensure that the amount of paper does notexceed the maximum capacity.
Once the paper jam is cleared, press the “FWD”button (10) to continue the shredding
process.
