Do not use the universal remote control in damp environmentsand avoid contact with
splashing water.
Keep the universal remote controlaway from heat sources and do not expose it to
direct sunlight.
As with allelectrical products,the universal remotecontrol should be kept out of the
reach of children.
This product is intended for private, non-commercial use only.
Use the product only for the intended purpose.
Protect the product from dirt, moistureand overheating and useitindry rooms only.
Do not use the product in areas in which electronic products arenot permitted.
Do not drop the product and do not exposeittoany major shocks.
Do not modify the product in any way.Doing sovoids the warranty.
Keep the packaging material out of the reach of children duetothe risk of suffocation.
Dispose of packaging material immediatelyinaccordancewiththe locally applicable
regulations.
Do not operate the product outside the power limitsgiven in the specications.
Do not open the device or continue to operate it if it becomes damaged.

Warning–Batteries
When inserting batteries,notethe correct polarity(+and -markings)and insert
the batteries accordingly.Failuretodosocouldresultinthe batteries leaking or
exploding.
Only use batteries thatmatch the specied type. Keep the instructions for the
correct choice of batteries included with the operating instructions of devices safe
for futurereference.
Beforeyou insert the batteries,clean the battery contacts and the polaritycontacts.
Do not allow children to change batteries without supervision.
Replace all the batteries in aset at the same time.
Do not mix old and new batteries,orbatteries of different types or from different
manufacturers.

Warning –Batteries
Remove the batteries from products that arenot being used for an extended period
(unless these arebeing kept ready foranemergency).
Do not short-circuit batteries.
Do not charge batteries.
Do not burn batteriesorheatthem up.
Never open, damage or swallow batteries or allow them to enter the environment.
They can contain toxic, environmentally harmful heavy metals.
Remove spent batteries from the product and dispose of them without delay.
Avoid storing, charging and using in extreme temperatures andatextremely low
atmospheric pressures (such as at high altitudes).
Ensurethat batteries with damaged housings do notcome into
contact with water.
Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
4. First steps -Inserting the batteries
Note
Alkaline batteries arerecommended.Use two batteries of the type"AAA" (LR03/
Micro).
Remove the battery cover on the back of the universal remote control (A).
Insert thebatteries,observing the "+/-"marks forpolarity(B).
Closethe batterycompartment (C).
Note:Codememory
Each programmed code or taught-inbutton is retainedeven during battery
replacement.
Note: Energy saving function
The remote control switchesitself off automatically if abutton is pressed for longer
than 15 seconds. This prolongs the life of the batteries if the remote control is stuck
in aplace wherethe buttons arepressed permanently,e.g. between sofa cushions.
Note: Lowbattery display
This remote control indicates when thebatteries are getting low.
If the status LED ashes2times after abutton is pressed, the batteries areweak
and should be replaced promptly.
5. Setup
Note
Forproper infra-red transmission, always hold the remotecontrol in the
approximate direction of the device to be operated.
Youcannot operate adevice with the universal remotecontrol while it is in Setup
mode. Exit Setup mode and selectthe device to be operated using the device
selection buttons.
Please note that the remote control emits infra-red signals. Theseare not visible
to the humaneye.
The remote control can control2different types of devices,TVand STB. To switch
between device types, pressthe Setup button (12) briey(<3 seconds).
TV mode:You can select the green or redLED colour for the TV mode. If you have
dened the TV mode with one of the two colours, the statusLED lightsupinthisLED
colour every time you pressthe button again.
STBmode:You can usethe respective other LED colour for STBmode. If you activate
the STBmode, the status LED lights up in this LED colour every time you press the
button again.
5.1 Brand-specific code search
With the brand-speciccode search, you can reducethe search to the codes for the
brand of your device. The following overview shows you whichbrand is represented by
which button.

1. Switch the device you wish to operate on.
2. Press and hold the Setup button (12)for approx. 3seconds until the LED lights up.
3. Press the Power button (1) once. Then press thebutton that stands for the brand of
your terminal (e.g. BACK (4) for Panasonic).
4. Point the remote control at the device you wish to control.
5. The remote control now sends anew command to your device every 2seconds. The
LED ashes once for each command and then lights up permanently again.
6. As soon as your device switches off,press the OK button (3) to save the code. The LED
goes out.
7. Then test the remote control and check whetherthe desired functions can be
controlled. It is possiblethat the rst code foundisnotthe most suitable, and possibly
not allfunctions areavailable. In this case, repeat steps 2–6.
Note
If you want to switch to anotherbrand during the search, simply press the key
assigned to that brand (e.g. Home(11) for Sony). The codesearch willthen
continue for this brand.
After allcodes assigned to abrand have been searched, the LED ashes 6times
and Setup mode is terminated. If no suitable codehas beenfound for your device,
start the code search for allbrands.
If no button is pressed for 35 seconds in Setup mode, theLED ashes 6times and
goes out. The remote control exits Setup mode without changing the previous
settings.
Press the Setup button (12)toexit Setup mode.
5.2 Direct code entry
Acode list is included in the universal remote control'sextentofdelivery.The codelist
contains ve-digit codesfor setting the remote controltowork with most AV equipment
manufacturers.
Foreasy orientation, the codes aresorted rst by type of device (TV, STB) andwithin the
type of device alphabetically by brand name.
Note
This remote control does not have aseparate numeric keypad, so the numbers are
assigned to the following keys. (See Fig.B)
1. Switch the device you wish to operate on.
2. Press and hold the Setup button (12) for approx. 3seconds until the LED lightsupto
start Setup mode.
3. Enter one of the 5-digit codes from the enclosed code list.The LED ashes brieyas
each number is entered.
4. If avalid codeisentered, the LED goes out after the 5thnumber is entered and the
code is automatically saved.
5. Then test the remote controland checkwhether the desired functions can be
controlled. It is possible that the rstcode found is not the most suitable, and possibly
not allfunctions areavailable. In this case, repeat steps 2–5.
Note
If an invalid code is entered, the LED ashes 6timesand then lightsup
permanentlyagain.Inthiscase, repeat entering the code (Step3).
If no button is pressed for 35 seconds in Setup mode, the LED ashes 6times andgoes
out. The remote control exits Setup mode without changingthe previous settings.
Setup mode canbeended at any time by pressing the Setup button (12).

device.

6. Control of different devices
With this remote controlyou can controlnot only TV setsbut alsoSTB devices (SetTop
Boxes -e.g. SAT receivers). In the factory setting, the remotecontrol is preset to control
TV sets.
To toggle between the various devices, proceed as follows:
1. Brieypress the Setup button (12).The LED ashes once.
2. The remote controlisnow in control mode for STBdevices. Eachtime the button is
pressed, the LED ashes once.
Return to TV mode:
1. Brieypress the Setup button (12).The LED ashes 2x.
2. The remote controlisnow in control mode for TV devices. Eachtime the button is
pressed, the LED ashes once.
7. Learningfunction
This remote control is equipped with alearning function. This allows you to transfer
functions from your original remote control to thisuniversal remotecontrol.
