Breast Cushion Sizing
Nipple
Areola
When you ar
e
pumping only
your nipple and a
small amount of
your ar
eola
should be pulled
into the breas
t
cushion tunnel. If
a large amount of
3
areola is being pulled into the tunnel, this
indicates that the br
east cushion is too
large. Y
ouneed a smaller size.
When you ar
e pumping your nipple should
mov
e in and out of the tunnel freely
. If
you notice tha
t your nipple is touching or
rubbing along the sides of the tunnel, this
indicates that the br
east cushion is too
small. Y
ou need a larger size
.
The breas
t cushion you rec
eived with the
pump is 25mm. A 30.5mm ComfortFit®
breast cushion is a
vailable for pur
chase.

Pumping Tips
Breastmilk is pr
oduced on a supply and
demand basis. Expressing y
our breastmilk
regularly will stimulat
e your body and
help you maintain y
our milk supply. If y
ou
hav
e any breastf
eeding or breast pump
related ques
tions, consult an International
Board Certified Lactation C
onsultant
(IBCLC), br
eastfeeding counselor
, or other
healthcare pro
vider such as your midwife
or health visitor
.
T
op Tips for Pumping Sessions
•
Bef
ore a pumping session, mak
e yourself
comfortable and ensur
e the breast pump
is close to you.
•
Sit in an upright position, making sur
e your
shoulders and arms are w
ell supported.
•
T
he most important part of succes
sful
pumping is the ability to trigger the
let‑down r
eflex. This is when y
our milk
begins to flow fr
eely. W
arm compres
ses
applied to the breas
ts and gentle, circular
massaging of the breasts prior t
o and/
or during a pumping session can help
encourage this natur
al reflex. Heated
Lansinoh® Thera°P
earl® 3‑in‑1 Breas
t
Therap
y Packs fulfil this function well.
•
If y
ou and baby are apart, look at their
pictures or videos, or hav
e something with
your bab
y’s scent on it. T
hese cues will
help to trigger let‑down.
•
If bab
y is with you, skin‑to‑skin contact
and scent will help to trigger let‑do
wn. Y
ou
may pump one breas
t while nursing baby
on the other
. This allows y
ou to maximize
pumping eectivenes
s by using the
let‑down r
eflex stimulat
ed by your bab
y’s
sucking.
•
Giv
e yourself sucient time to pump.
Stress can negativ
ely impact milk
production.
•
S
tay hy
drated; ha
ving a glass of water
before and during each session is
important for milk production.
•
Man
y mums find that they ha
ve a high
milk supply in the morning after sleeping,
so you ma
y find it helpful to try a morning
pumping session.
•
Some mums can achie
ve more than one
let‑down during a pumping session.
Y
ou may be able to achie
ve a second
by r
eturning to the Let‑Down Phase b
y
pressing the Let‑Do
wn/Expression toggle
button.
•
T
rack the date, time, and dur
ation of your
feeding and pumping sessions as well
as the amount of milk expr
essed from
each breast. K
eeping these records can
help you identify tr
ends or patterns so
you can establish y
our optimal feeding
and pumping routine. If y
ou’re having
any diculties, it can be helpful to shar
e
this information with your healthcar
e
professional.
•
Y
ou can save time and pr
event mes
sy milk
transfers or spills b
y pumping directly into
Lansinoh® Breastmilk St
orage Bags. Just
ensure that y
our Lansinoh® Breastmilk
Storage Bag has whit
e and purple flowers
and a white line abov
e the logo. If your
bag does not hav
e this design, it is not
compatible with pumping directly int
o the
bag. NO
TE: Pumping directly into bags
requires tw
o hands to safely remov
e milk
stor
age bags. Visit www
.lansinoh.co
.uk to
learn more.
