6.
Once a reference temperature and
temperature threshold are set the unit
can be used to scan areas for changes in
temperature. While in measurement mode
the backlight will be green and
“NORMAL”
4
User Manual
GB
will be displayed on the LCD if the
difference between the currently scanned
temperature and the reference temperature
does not exceed the temperature threshold
value. The background will be blue and
“LOW”
will be displayed if the measured
temperature is lower than the reference
temperature by more than the temperature
threshold value (slow beeps will also
sound). The background will be red and
“HIGH”
will be displayed if the measured
temperature is higher than the reference
temperature by more than the temperature
threshold value (fast beeps will also sound).
NOTE:
•
Shiny or polished items can give inaccurate
readings. T
o compensate for this, cover the
surface with masking tape or at colored
paint.
After the tape or paint has been
given sufcient time to reach the same
temperature as the target underneath,
measure the temperature of the item.
•
The thermometer cannot measure through
transparent surfaces such as glass
or plastic. It will measure the surface
temperature of the transparent surface.
•
Steam, dust, smoke and other optical
obstructions can prevent accurate
measurements.
•
If the ambient temperature is lower than
0°C (32°F) or higher than 40°C (104°F),
the primary display will show
“ERR”
.
•
If the scanned temperature is
higher or lower than the limits of the
thermometer’s range the primary display
will show
“HI”
or
“LO”
respectively
.
Field of View
The farther the thermometer is from a target,
the larger the target area will be, this is
known as the distance to spot (D:S) ratio. For
example: at a distance of 16 cm the spot will
be 2 cm in diameter
. The thermometer will
display the average temperature across the
target area.
