How t
o use Withings Body Scan
and take a firs
t measurement
How Withings Body Scan obtains a Nerv
e Health Score
- The Nerve Health Sc
ore is based on a Galvanic Skin Response
measurement which consis
ts of a chronoamperometric
measurement of the feet. It pr
ovides an accurat
e evaluation
of sweat gland function, also called sudomot
or function.
- Withings Body Scan measures the ability of the s
weat glands
to release chloride ions in r
esponse to an electrical stimulus on
the soles of the feet, the area with the highest s
weat gland density
.
- The measurement foc
uses on small nerve fibers that stimulate
the sweat glands. T
he degeneration of these small nerve fibers
reduces s
weat gland stimulation and impairs the sudomotor
function.

How to obtain a Nerv
e Health Score
- Make sur
e the Withings Body Scan is on a stable floor
, and
that you ha
ve activated and enabled a Nerv
e Health Score
measurement in the Withings application.
- Optional: grab the handle. Please not
e that the measurement
does not require holding the handle
. A Nerve Health Score
measurement can be performed e
ven if the handle is in
its stor
age position.
- Step on the scale with bare f
eet. Make sure your f
eet are clean
and well positioned on the electr
odes. See images below to
ensure y
our feet are well positioned.
- Withings Body Scan will deliver a final Nerv
e Health Score
reading at the end of each month. The r
eading might be
inconclusive if w
e were not able to ac
curately assess y
our
score
. We might invit

our product is not starting, consider
charging it for a minimum of thr

- Once your pr
oduct is installed and configured, it will appear
in your de
vices list in settings.
- Y
ou may hav
e to follow some tutorials in the Withings application
in order to activ
ate some measurements. Withings EC
G Monitor
requires y
ou to follow a tut
orial for the activation of the metric.
- T
o tak
e the first measurement, grab the handle (
optional)
and step on the scale with bar
e feet. Y
our name, or trigram
(as configured in the app
), will appear on the scale’s screen
at the end of the weight measur
ement: it means your scale
has correctly identified y
ou and the measurements sequence
(as defined in the app) will follo

- If it is not the case, the measurement will most lik
ely appear
in “Unknown Measur
ements” in the application. Please assign
it to your user so tha
t the scale can automatically recognize
the user during the next w
eigh-in.
