USER MANUAL
Thank you for choosing a Humberg pr
oduct. This manual contains the most important informa-
tion regarding the c
onstruction, operating principles and maintenance of the HM-174 line laser
detector
. Befor
e starting work with the device, please read the contents of this manual car
e-
fully and follow all safety r
ecommendations included herein. Proper use in acc
ordance with the
intended purpose ensures long service lif
e of the device, high measurement accuracy and safe
operation.
⚠
Warnings!
Before using the line laser detector
, carefully read the f
ollowing warnings. Failur
e to follow
safety rules may result in impr
oper operation of the device, damage to the device or a hazar
d to
the user
.
•
The device is intended for c
ooperation with line lasers supporting the detector mode
(OUTDOOR / PWM). When used with a laser that does not support this mode, the detector
may not detect the laser beam.
•
Do not direct the laser beam into the ey
es – it may cause permanent eye damage.
•
Do not open the device housing or attempt to perf
orm repairs yourself
.
•
Avoid e
xposing the detector to strong impacts, drops or vibrations.
•
Do not use the device in envir
onments with high humidity, near flammable liquids or in
explosive atmospheres.
•
Protect the devic
e from direct exposure to rain, dust and dirt – it is rec
ommended to use it in
dry working conditions.
•
Do not leave the devic
e in places with high temperatures (e.g. inside a car in the sun) or near
heat sources.
•
Use only batteries of the recommended type and v
oltage. Do not mix new and used batte-
ries.
•
If the device will not be used for an e
xtended period, remove the batteries to pre
vent elec
-
trolyte leakage.
•
Store the devic
e out of reach of children.
•
Do not dispose of the device or used batteries with household waste. U
sed components
must be delivered to an electrical and electr
onic equipment collection point or an appropriate
battery disposal container
.
About the device
The HUMBERG HM-174 line laser detector is used to receiv
e and precisely determine the
position of a laser beam generated by levels or line lasers equipped with de
tector mode
(OUTDOOR / PWM). The device enables beam de
tection in bright sunlight or at greater distan-
ces, where the laser line may be difficult to see with the nak
ed eye. The product is intended f
or
professional and hobb
y applications in construction, installation and finishing works.

Device operation
1. Switch on the laser modulation mode (OUTDOOR / PWM)
This mode is required f
or proper cooperation with the detector
. When using lasers not equipped
with this function, the device may not detect the laser beam.
2. Switching the device on
•
Attach the detector to a wall, tripod or another stable surfac
e.
•
Briefly press the power button – the de
vice will start and the status indicator light will
illuminate.
•
The red, blue and green LEDs will light up one after another and then turn off
. The buzzer will
emit a sound lasting approximately 1 sec
ond and then turn off.
•
The power indicator light will remain on, indicating the de
vice is ready for operation.
•
T
o switch off the detector
, briefly press the power button again.
3. Locating the laser line
Move the detector up and do
wn to find the position of the laser beam.
a) When the laser line is below the refer
ence line (baseline) – the buzzer emits a fast intermit
-
tent sound and the lower status indicator light illuminates.
•
Move the detector do
wnward until the beam is in the center of the r
eceiving window.
•
At the baseline position, the buzzer emits a continuous sound and the middle status indica-
tor light remains on, indicating the laser position is corr
ect.
b) When the laser line is abov
e the reference line (baseline
) – the buzzer emits a slower intermit-
tent sound and the upper status indicator light illuminates.
•
Move the detector up
ward until the beam is in the center of the rec
eiving window.
•
At the baseline position, the buzzer emits a continuous sound and the middle status indica-
tor light remains on, confirming pr
oper beam leveling.
4. Low battery level
•
When the battery voltage drops to 1.8 V ± 0.2 V
, the device enters low-
voltage mode.
•
In this situation, the power indicator light will start flashing and the device will emit a w
ar
-
ning signal.
•
Replace the battery immediately and restart the de
tector
.
5
Maintenance and storage
•
After finishing work, clean the device housing with a soft, dry clo
th.
•
For heavier dirt, use a slightly damp clo
th.
•
Do not use solvents, alcohol, gasoline or c
orrosive agents that may damage the housing
surface or optical elements.
•
Clean the laser receiving window car
efully to avoid scratching the lens.
•
The device is not fully waterpr
oof – protect it from direct exposur
e to rain, snow and from
ingress of dust and dirt into the housing.
•
After working in a dusty environmen
t, wipe the device thoroughly and allow it to dry in a dry
location.
•
Do not perform repairs, adjustments or part r
eplacements yourself
.
•
Report any malfunctions to an authorized service c
enter or point of sale.
•
Check the battery condition regularly and replac
e batteries as needed with new ones of the
recommended type.
•
After finishing work, remo
ve the batteries from the device to pr
event discharge or electro-
lyte leakage.
•
Store the detector in its original packaging or pr
otective case, in a dry
, ventilated place, away
from heat sources and dir
ect sunlight.
•
Do not store the devic
e at temperatures below –10 °C or above +50 °C.

INFORMATION
FOR USERS ON HOW TO DEAL
WITH WASTE ELECTRICAL AND
ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT
.
If the device, packaging, instruction manual and the like are mark
ed with the symbol of a crossed-out wheeled waste container
, it
means that the device is subject to separate waste collection in accor
dance with Directive 2012/19/EU of the European Parliament
and of the Council. The used device should not be disposed of with other household waste and should no
t be treated as municipal
waste. By disposing of electro-waste in the container y
ou pose a threat to the environment. T
ake the used device to a separate
collection point for electrical and electronic equipment organized b
y the public administration. By segregating and submitting used
electrical and electronic equipment for processing, r
ecovery, r
ecycling and disposal, you protect the environment from pollution
and contamination, contribute to reducing the use of natural resour
ces and lowering the cost of producing new equipment. Proper
disposal and scrapping helps eliminate the adverse effects of scrapped products on the envir
onment and human health. For details
on the recyclability of this product, please contact y
our local municipality, city cleaning services or the store where y
ou purchased
the product.
