common sense when operating the tool. Do
not use the tool while you are tired or under

Protective equipment such
as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or
hearing protection used for appropriate conditions

of
the
tool

unexpected
situations.

Dress properly

There is a danger of burning
yourself
with
the
ame
or
with
liquid
soldering
tin.
Wear protective clothing to protect yourself against
burns.
Keep
your
hair

clothing

gloves
away
from
the
ame.
Loose
clothes
or
long
hair
can
catch

Secure the workpiece.
Use a clamping device to
hold
the
workpiece.
This
allows
you
to
use
both
hands
to
operate
the
tool.

Do not use the appliance when it is leaking
(gas
smell),
shows
any
sign
of
damage

is
malfunctioning.

appliance
is
leaking
(gas
smell)
immediately take it outside and check the leak-
tightness
without

Always
use
soapsuds.

(Re)lling
the
gas
tank
must
be
done
in
a
well-ventilated
place
far
away
from

possible

of
ignition,
open
ames,
pilot
lights,
electrical
cookware
and
away
from
other persons.
Be sure to observe the safety
instructions

warning
notices
on
the
rell
container.

ambient temperature between 10°C and 50°C.
Allow

tool

cool
down
before
storing. Unused tools should be stored away

Dremel
VersaFlame
is
a
high
quality
tool
that
can
be
used
for
hard
or
soft
soldering.
It
can
also
be
used
to
heat
up
and/or
ignite
ammable
and
non-ammable
materials.
The
Dremel
VersaFlame
emits
an
adjustable
ame
with
a
temperature
of
up
to
1200°C.
It
has
an
integrated

The
tool
may
only
be
lled
and
operated
with
liquid
butane
gas.

Make
sure
the
gas
you
are
using
is
rened
butane
gas
that
can
also
be
used
for
lighters.
1.
Hold
the
tool
and
the
gas
rell
container
as
shown
in
3
.
2.
Fill
the
gas
tank
with
liquid
butane
gas
observing
the
instructions
on
the
rell
container. The
gas
tank
is
full
when
liquid
butane
gas
escapes
through
the
lling
valve.
In
that
case,
there
is
no
more
air
present
in
the
gas
tank.
!
DO NOT OVERFILL
THE GAS

ANK.
Overlling
occurs
when
no
air
escapes
from
the
tank
while
lling
it.
In
this
case
please
use
a
dierent
tip
on
the
gas
tank
with
which
you
are
lling,
to
allow
air
to
escape
from
the
tank.
USE
GETTING ST
ARTED
Familiarize
yourself
with
the
components
of
the
tool

The
tool
is
equipped
with
a
child-safety
mechanism
which
requires
a
two-step
operation
to
protect
against
accidental
ignition.
ON/
OFF

switch
on
and
operate
the
tool

The
air
control
lever
must
be
in
the
open
position

forward

tool

Hold
the
tool
in

hand.

move

child-safety
lock
to
the

catalyst:
close

air

lever
for
2
seconds
and
re-open
it
to
prevent
the
catalyst
from
being
overheated

switched on by checking that the catalyst

the
tool,
release
the
ignition
button.
This
will
immediately
shut

the
ow
of
butane
gas.

Switch
on
the
tool
as
described
above.

Slide
the
lock
button
backward
and
release
the
ignition
button.
3.

o
switch

tool,
slide
the
lock
button
forward.
This
will
immediately
stop
the
ow
of
butane
gas.
USING WITH
AN
OPEN FLAME
The
tool
can
only
be
used
with
an
open
ame
if
the
catalyst
is
removed.
FLAME LENGTH
AND
TEMPERA
TURE
ADJUSTMENT
Move
the
ame
control
lever
forward
to
increase
the
ame
length
and
temperature,
or
backward
to
decrease
the
ame
length
and
temperature.
When
using
an
open
ame,
the
tool
is
at
the
desired
temperature
immediately
after
ignition.
Please
allow
approximately
25
seconds
of
heat-up
time
for
the
soldering
tip.

The
catalyst
generates
hot
air
of
680°C
(used
for
melting
plastics
and
other
heat-sensitive
materials):
1.
Slide
the
narrow
part
of
the
catalyst
into
the
burner
.
Make
sure
the
slot
of
the
catalyst
is
aligned
with
the
white
indicator
mark.
2.
T
o
remove
the
catalyst,
slide
it
out
of
the
burner.
SOLDERING TIP A

The
soldering
tip,
to
be
used
on
the
catalyst
(used
for
regular
soldering
activities,
using
soldering
tin):
1.
Screw
the
soldering
tip
in
clockwise
direction
onto
the
catalyst.
Secure
the
tip
using
the
7
mm
wrench
provided.
2.
T
o
remove
the
soldering
tip,
use
the
7
mm
wrench
to
unscrew
the
tip
in
counter-clockwise
direction.

generates

approx.
1000°C
(used

heating
larger
surfaces):

the
screw

Clean
the
exterior
of
the
tool
with
a
clean
cloth.
If
necessary
,
use
a
damp
cloth
with
a
small
amount
of
neutral
detergent.
After
soldering
or
in
case
of
excess
solder
on
the
soldering
tip,
wipe
the
tip
on
a
soldering
sponge
soaked
in
some
water
when
it
is
still
hot.
Never
clean
the
soldering
tip
with
sandpaper
as
this
reduces
its
lifetime.
